First of all, the name… how daringly cheeky! But indeed, this doughnut shop is definitely called Glory Hole Doughnuts. We made a pit stop here on the same painfully cold Sunday to hopefully score some doughnuts as GHD tend to sell out quick.
Majority of their doughnuts are yeast-based, which yields quite large doughnuts. They do offer very limited cake-based doughnuts, which are half the size of the yeast doughnuts. Prices range from $3.00 to $3.75 for the overly creative ones. We walked out with half dozen doughnuts.
Orange Cranberry Jelly Doughnut: Filled with a house-made orange cranberry filling and rolled in powdered sugar. Bûche De Noël: Filled with a house-made chocolate mousse and topped with dark chocolate glaze and dark chocolate shavings.
The doughnuts were light and fluffy, but there were some hits and misses. My favourite was the S’mores, as there was more flavour from the toppings, while the Cinnamon Toast Crunch was practically a traditional glazed doughnut with some pieces of cereal. Also, the doughnuts were disgustingly greasy! An oil pit these were. Not good.
