Eat: Theobroma Chocolate Lounge (Melbourne, Australia)

Prior to getting used to my navigation skills in Melbourne (turns out, it’s quite easy as the CBD is practically a grid), I didn’t want to venture far for breakfast, or brekkie as the Aussie call it.

I randomly went into Theobroma Chocolate Lounge located between Southern Cross Station and the Spencer Outlet Centre. Theobroma is both a cafe and a chocolate confection shop. The chocolate confections looked pretty on the display and the food menu mostly features chocolate but they also had the traditional type breakfasts (though I reckon that other places have better traditional breakfast, because at the end of the day, Theobroma specializes in chocolates).

IMG_2492I initially wanted the Belgian waffles with chocolate, strawberries and ice cream but was told they were “sold out”. So I settled for a croissant ($4.50 AUD) with melted Belgian chocolate, which turns out to be this mediocre croissant cut in half, toasted and melted chocolate poured on it.

Also, they weren’t sold out of waffles because a patron that came in maybe 10 minutes after I did got waffles.

IMG_2491The cup of cappuccino ($4 AUD in a mug) was the only redeeming factor, not the best coffee in Melbourne (coffee was weak), but it’ll do for commuters and travelers.
