Eat: Millie Patisserie & Creamery

Japanese desserts and Asian flavour french-inspired desserts seems to be all the rage now with several shops popping up around the city.

IMG_2777Millie Creperie in Kensington Market recently opened up a sister shop, Millie Patisserie & Creamery on a small side street off of Spadina. It is a bit hidden, especially since the street is practically just condos. However, the space is much more bigger, brighter and has a few seatings to enjoy your desserts. Quiet frankly though, I think it’s a bit of an odd spot as there’s not much foot traffic.

IMG_2778I went straight for a piece of their popular Mille Crepe Cake in green tea ($7.74). A delicate cake consisting of 20 paper thin crepes and really light whipped pastry cream in between each crepe. The cake itself is not sweet at all, typical of the Asian palate. There’s not a strong green tea flavour, but the dusting of matcha powder on top gives it that slight bitterness flavour of tea.

Pricey for a slice though.
