Having been to Buca (read here) and knowing how impeccable their food is (with the exception Jamie’s Italian Kitchen, read here), I figured it would be nice to bring a friend visiting Toronto from Melbourne to Bar Buca on King West and Portland.
Unlike its older sister Buca, Bar Buca is more of an Italian-style snack bar, where dishes are meant to be shared. Funnily, while my friend was browsing the menu, he noted how cheap steak here is compared to back home. Well, I didn’t tell him that this was tapas style so we’re not getting a 16oz steak, nor did I tell him I found really cheap steak in Melbourne haha.
Tagliata di Manzo ($16) – flat iron steak with salmoriglio
Ammazza Fegato ($14) – tuscan offal sausage, peperonata
Porro Selvatico ($12) – grilled ramps, prosciutto, pesto trapanese, marcona almond
Food was amazingly good. We didn’t make any reservation, which was not a problem as the restaurant was relatively empty until about 7:00pm.
