Named one of Toronto’s most romantic restaurant, Branca is all about meats cooked in the traditional Argentinian way — over a live fire.
No signage outside, except for the neon logo on the window. One of the patron that came in complained about that, which really is no big deal.
Burnt Eggplant ($8). There is a slight smoky taste to it.
Pulpo ($22) – Spanish octopus, lemon parsley potato and pickled mustard seed. Perfectly cooked octopus.
Entrana a la Parrilla ($24) – 8oz of skirt steak.
Asado de Tira ($27) – fire roasted beef short rib.
The meats were brought out on one plate and sauces like chimichurri came as accompaniments. There’s a lot of great raves about the skirt steak, but my favourite had to be the short ribs. Tender and melt in your mouth.
Romance and really good grilled meats. What more can you ask for?
