Opened in East Chinatown is Farside, a bar that is far from the niche of Chinatown, but step inside and it’s like you stepped into someone’s living room.
The night we went, they were playing the 1995 Mortal Kombat film on the back wall. They do have extensive collection of VHS for movie nights.
I got my go-to drink, a gin and tonic but I also got a slice of birthday cake. It’s not my birthday. in fact, birthday is not required. This came on a Spice Girls paper plate, which I think is a gem in itself. The cake is from a Chinese bakery though, but the plate… it’s nostalgic. In fact, having grown up eating Chinese birthday cakes, this entirety is nostalgic for me.
