Our first run to the brunch is to The Green Wood, located just at the cusp of Leslieville and The Beaches. My friend Lisa and I decided to start jogging on the weekend (weather-permitted) to a brunch spot as a way to get back into running and we’d try to run at least 4km.
The Green Wood focuses on local, sustainable food. It’s not all hippy vibes here; carnivores, vegetarians and omnivores alike while find something to eat here.
The Greens – apple cider, kale juice, lemon juice and simple syrup ($8, add Tanqueray gin for additional $6).
The Green Wood Classic – two farm eggs, sausage (and bacon, with fresh greens, roasted potatoes and house toast ($14)
Salmon Rosti – crispy potato pancakes with grilled asparagus, sour cream (omitted), smoked salmon and two poached eggs ($16)
Tofu Banh Mi – crispy, smoky tofu, pickled vegetables, spicy vegan mayo, beet bun (no longer available)
We also added a side of Mennonite Bacon ($2)
