Eat: Chat Bar

Chat Bar is a Chinese BBQ restaurant known for their chuan (or chuan’r, pronounced as “chwan), which is BBQ skewers.

These skewers are popular in China as street food, and they are synonymous with alcoholic drinks like beer.

We went to the North York location, however there are multiple locations throughout the GTA.

I didn’t take much pictures, but the menu does contain skewer-less items. A little neat thing the restaurant offers to keep the skewers warm is heated plate with candles underneath, however the skewers still does end up cold, especially if there’s skewers piled on top of skewers.

Most of the skewers are seasoned with cumin. You can certain request to tone down the spice or cumin if you find it too spicy or too much cumin.

I will say though that it’s a fun place to go with a group of friends, but do pace yourself when ordering because they bring most of your food out, rendering the hot plate useless in keeping the skewers warm.
